We need to see all of the following documentation at the time of hire:
A current full driving licence must be produced by all hirers at the commencement of each and every hire. Hirers with a photo card driving licence must also produce a DVLA check code. This code enables us to view your driving record for insurance purposes. You can produce your code and find further information here:- www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence Please note your unique code is valid for 21 Days or one use. If you do not have your code at time of rental, we may be able to help if you know your National Insurance number.
These must be recent (no more than two months old) utility bills, bank or building society statements showing your current address. A passport is not acceptable as it does not contain your address.
Drivers aged 25-75 are acceptable only if they have MINOR convictions within the last 5 years which total 6 points or less.
Drivers with the following convictions on their licences are unable to rent from us: UT50, CD40, CD50, CD60, CD70, CD71, DD40, DD60, DD80, DR10, DR20, DR30, DR31, DR40, DR50, DR60, DR61, DR70, DR80, DR90, IN10.
Drivers with the following convictions are only acceptable after 5 years from date of conviction: AC10, AC20, All BA, All DD, All DG, All DR, CD40, CD50, CD60, CD70 & MS90.
You will be asked to pay for your rental charge on a credit or debit card. Please make sure there is enough credit available on your card. Your card details are held during your hire and released when the vehicle is booked in. All outstanding payments will be taken from the nominated card. Cash / Cheque payments and deposits cannot be accepted under any circumstances. The credit / debit card used must be that of the hirer who signs and agrees to the terms of the rental agreement.
Unless customers own insurance is supplied with prior arrangement and approval, the Hirer is fully covered on insurance provided by LCH Vehicle Hire. The Hirer is fully covered on insurance. The standard excess on all cars and vans is £750.00 + vat. Luton, Minibuses and MPVs are £1000.00 + vat. Overhead damage, damage to tyres, windscreens, wheel trims and upholstery are not covered by the damage waiver, the hirer being liable for the full cost of repair. Collision damage waiver is available to reduce your excess - please ask at reception. Please note: WE CANNOT INSURE COURIERS OR CUSTOMERS ENGAGED IN MULTIDROP DELIVERIES.
Additional drivers can be insured for a daily charge of £6.00. Full driving licence and identification as above are required.
Whilst every effort will be made to supply the model requested, in the event of it being unavailable, an alternative model will be provided.
Our offices are open 08:00hrs to 17:00hrs Monday - Friday and 09.00hrs to 12.00hrs Saturday. Our offices are closed Public Holidays and Bank Holidays. The hire period is 24 hours. Rental times may be adjusted to suit individual hirers' requirements subject to vehicle availability.
Rentals are subject to a standard mileage rate which varies according to vehicle type:

Note: Weekly Deals and Weekend Specials have a set allowance.
Excess mileage will be charged at £0.24 per mile. This co-incides with our fair use policy of a maximum of 2800 miles per calender month or pro rata.
If you wish to extend your hire, arrangements must be made prior to expiry of the current agreement and an additional payment made to enable the insurance cover to be extended.
Vehicles must be returned to the office from which they were rented. Vehicles may be returned out of hours by prior arrangement with us, but will remain the responsibility of the hirer until the office next opens.
Free parking is available, but all vehicles are left at the owner's risk.
We can no longer offer European hire, this comes in to effect on the 12th April 2025.
If you need to cancel a booking then you must do so in writing or by sending an email to tim@lchvehiclehire.com.
Refund Policy - All hires are subject to a £20 cancellation fee. If your vehicle hire is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, then no refund will be made.
The Hirer is responsible for checking water, oil levels, Adblue and tyre pressures daily.
In the unlikely event of a breakdown or accident all our vehicles are covered by Roadside Recovery and Home Start services. Your first point of contact must always be TTS360 Tel: 0333 207 9654 and always quote the vehicle registration number. We are contactable during normal office hours on Tel: 01288 377037.
We want you to have the most pleasant experience possible when you hire from us, however we understand that things can go wrong. Something like one in five van hires incur some sort of damage. Please consider taking one of our damage waiver products to reduce your liability.
All damage is highlighted and photographed for assessment
We try to be as fair as possible estimating repair costs but when things do go wrong modern vehicles are very expensive to repair.
We adhere to the BVRLA guidelines for assessing damage and also have an independent qualified body repair shop provide repair estimates.
Our excess charge comprises the following:
Your rental vehicle will be supplied with a full tank of fuel. If this is any different on collection you should inform a member of our rental staff who will fill your vehicle for you. We will note on the pre-rental check app and rental agreement, the reading of the fuel gauge. We recommend you fill you hire vehicle before you return and keep the receipt. If however you have not fuelled you rental vehicle on return, we will fill it and charge you our price for our refuelling service. This will be charged to the card you paid with.
You may drive our vehicles using you own company's fleet insurance cover, provided we have approved this in advance and a copy of the insurance certifcate provided. In this event, only the restrictions of your own insurance will apply. In the event of an accident when self insuring you are liable for any loss of earnings to the vehicle whilst repairs are carried out.
